Every piece has a face (basically a symbol or a picture) denoting its "identity." Typically, in traditional classic Asian style mah-jongg, the symbols are circles, bamboos, Chinese letters, seasons, and dragon pictures. The game starts with tile-pieces stacked and arranged on the board, which vary in dimensions, forming structures such as pyramids, symmetrical, stacks, towers, abstract, or animal shapes. The goal is to match all the symbol or icons on a board.
